Mobile infrastructure

Mobile and satellite connectivity from GSM and LTE to 4G, 5G and what comes next, with fail-over and device management for people and machines on the move.

When work leaves the building

Field staff, vehicles, temporary sites, sensors and machines in places no cable reaches: more and more of a business runs over mobile networks. In practice that often means a drawer of SIM cards on different contracts, coverage that nobody tested before the equipment was installed, and phones and tablets that are not managed at all once they have been handed out.

It also means technology of very different ages side by side. Older equipment still talks over GSM, most devices use LTE and 4G, and 5G is arriving site by site — while operators switch off their older networks on their own timetable.

How we approach it

We start with an inventory: which devices and machines connect, over which network generation, on which subscription, and what happens to the business when that connection drops.

Then we design the mobile layer as part of your infrastructure rather than next to it:

  • Coverage measured on location, per operator, before anything is ordered.
  • The right technology for each use: narrowband networks for simple sensors, 4G and 5G for people and data-heavy applications, satellite where there is no network on the ground.
  • Fail-over, so a site or vehicle switches to a second operator or to satellite when the first connection fails.
  • Central management of SIM cards, phones and tablets: enrolment, security policy, remote lock and wipe.
  • A plan for the networks that are being phased out, so older equipment is replaced before it goes silent.

What you get

  • An overview of every SIM, device and subscription, and what each one costs.
  • Connections tested where they are used, not on a coverage map.
  • Managed devices with a clear policy for loss, theft and staff changes.
  • A roadmap for 5G and what follows it, tied to the life cycle of your equipment.

Frequently asked questions

Our older machines only work on GSM. Is that a problem?

It can become one. Operators are switching off older networks country by country. We check which of your equipment is affected and when, and plan the replacement or a gateway in time.

Do we need 5G now?

Only where it solves something: more capacity, lower delay, or a private network on your own site. For most office and field use 4G is still sufficient, and we say so when that is the case.

Can satellite replace a fixed line?

As a back-up or in remote locations, yes. As the only connection for a busy office it has limits in capacity and cost. We size it for what it has to carry.
